Administrative law, also referred to as regulatory law, governs the regulation and administration of state and Federal agencies and their procedures. The purpose of administrative law is to protect public interest, making it a branch of public law that serves to create laws and rules, make judgment based on those laws, and enforce the laws by means of restitution that is appropriate to the crime. Examples of the agencies that create and enforce administrative law are the Federal Communications Commission and the Department of Labor. The President’s duties are also considered administrative law. Administrative law touches on the relationship between the agencies of the government and society as a whole. These Federal government agencies derive their power from Congress, follow the Federal Administrative Procedure Act (FAPA) as a primary source for their mandates, and thereby adhere to the Constitution of the United States.
